Contemporary Art Center of Peoria
7th Annual
Fine Art Auction
Saturday, February 26, 2011
Comments on 2010 Auction: This was the best Fine Art Auction to date. The event grossed $9541, over $1300 better than our best year in 2006. Over 50 registered bidders tried for 104 items offered by 47 local artist and donors. The top three items auctioned this year: Preston Jackson’s bronze and leather “Image of Labor” sold for $1000 the highest price of the evening. Carrie Pearce’s painting came in 2nd with the portrait of a young Abraham Lincoln “Off the Tracks” selling for her minimum bid of $800. The 3rd highest best seller, Preston’s acrylic painting “The Ghost Jag”, sold for $650.
We are pleased to share the profits with those artists who wished to take commission on the sales of their work. Over $3300 was paid to local artists in commission. The event was graced by food and drink from the Rhythm Kitchen and music by John Miller and the Romaniacs. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out, especially Louise Hodge for helping to organize behind the scenes before and after the event. Thanks to everyone who came and bid. You all made this a success! |
