Peoria’s open mic for sharing and inspiring poetry is held on the 1st Thursday of each month. Each night the open mic features a popular regionally known poet. Audiences experience more than just readings, these are soul-baring performances.

The smooth and eloquent host Xplicit (Brandon Thornton) draws passion for his poetry from life experience, and his work truly captures the moment and paints a vivid picture in your mind. This former math professor turned full-time poet began hitting the open mic scene in 2007 and continues to rock stages all across the country with his high energy performances combined with an array of wordplay.
