ELIJAH T. SANSOM Photography (309) 231-2404 Bio Info “I believe in beauty. I believe in stones and water, air and soil, people and their future and their fate.” quote by Ansel Adams. My perspective is influenced by Ansel Adams and his zone system for pre-visualizing, tight composition and eliminating extraneous elements from the frame. Artist Bio I was born and raised in Detroit but I've lived the second half of my life in central Illinois working my engineering career and raising my family of Jessonya, Natasha and Elija kamal. They have moved back to the Detroit area and i've retired to follow my muse with a greater focus. My degree in aeronautical engineering has afforded me a comfortable 38 year career as an engineer but I've always been more engaged with the artistic aspects of my work. Retiring this year allows me to redirect my 10 year professional photography experience into fine art; reviewing/editing my extensive resource of images to inform and express my artistic sensibilities; and serving as a role model for the areas young people. I consider myself an opportunistic photographer constantly looking thru my mind's eye for the beautiful and emotionally charged perspective. My Canon 5D and my eight year old Weimaraner, Jacob Marly, are my frequent companions; Jacob always presents an interesting subject when I'm not otherwise involved. One day he will be the subject of a self-published book of photographs. “Art is in the eye of the beholder.” My photography is the external communication of my internal perspective on life.
